I spent 10 days hiking in the Alps from Mountain Hut to Hut, together with my Mom and her friend. We started of with 20 cm snow (I hadn’t seen that much snow all year, and now in July I finally could build a Snowman!) so after hiking up the mountains on the first day we had to go straight back down as all trails were closed due to the snow.Oh well, 2 days later most of the snow had gone and I was wearing my shorts! Most days we hiked about 6 hours, sometimes a little climbing was involved but nothing too hard and all trails are marked really well. The huts are fantastic place to stay (apart from the sleep arrangements, they are mostly a little crowded), very relaxing and nice people. Usually they have board and card games you can take so we played in the evenings or were reading. As you start meeting the same people along the trail it was not too quiet in the evenings. At night everybody goes to bed really early anyways, usually between 9 – 10 and then we got up at about 7. The food was pretty good (Kaiserschmarrn, Knoedel, Spagetthi...) especially considering that some of the huts only get delieveries by helicopter a few times each season. All in all I had a lot of fun (and feel quiet a bit fitter now) and will definetly go again.
